Great Leader Atatürk, who believed in the indispensable importance of education for the modernization of Turkey, in his speech at the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly on November 1, 1925, expressed the need for the work of private enterprises to reach the targeted level in education and appealed to the society.

TED came to life on January 31, 1928, as the first non-governmental organization in the field of education in our Republic, under the name "Turkish Maarif Society" in the building where the First Grand National Assembly met.
